Stephen Mullin

Technology Director, Organist, and Choir Director.

Stephen grew up in Halifax, Nova Scotia, moving to Montreal in 1990 to continue his studies in music. Stephen’s interest in music began at a very early age, starting piano lessons at age six, later moving on to study under the Royal Conservatory system, then later obtained his Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance (Dalhousie) and his Masters in Music Composition (McGill). Married to Caryl in 1992, they and their two daughters—Camryn and Riley—have made their home in southwest Montreal ever since. The Church has always played a central role in Stephen’s life, first at a United Church and later at a Pentecostal Church. As a university student, his involvement in InterVarsity Christian Fellowship played a major role in starting a process of expanding the denominational boundaries to which he had grown accustomed. Working with people from other countries served to open up his heart to the possibilities of how diverse can be our meeting with God in collective worship. In this spirit, Stephen has been a key contributor to events and projects intended for audiences as diverse as the Christian Church itself including United, Pentecostal, Anglican, Catholic, and Baptist projects and conferences. Stephen served as Music Director of Lakeside Heights Baptist Church, Point Claire, Quebec, from 1993 to 2005. Stephen has composed or arranged for nearly every orchestral instrument and has himself performed on an array of instruments. Live concert dates have found him in such diverse locations as the Toronto Jazz Festival, the Big Boss worship festival in Switzerland and concert venues in France, Guadeloupe and Martinique. In addition to all of this, Stephen runs a media company, Studio du Chateau (www.studioduchateau.com), which specializes in music recording and video production.
